The Salamander symbolizes Monnet's commitment to offering cognacs aged to their fullest potential, warm, smooth and lively cognacs. It also embodies the vision of the cognac trade, made of audacity and creation.
Primary Region: Fins Bois Varietals: Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Folle Blanche, Sémillon
Since 1838, Monnet has been one of the historical signatures of Cognac. Its founder, Jean-Gabriel Monnet, innovator and visionary, developed his company and built revolutionary cellars in Cognac. One of which is located in the city centre and was the first to include every step of the Cognac production process under one roof.
His son, Jean Monnet, also known as one of the Fathers of the European Union, had developed the art of hospitality at the Monnet family house that is the spirit of Monnet: bringing people together by celebrating an "art de vivre". Today, Monnet exports their "sunny" style Cognacs all over the world. Known for being warm and dominated by fruity and floral notes, this style was immortalized by the renowned illustrator Cappiello in his famous painting "Du soleil dans un verre" in the 1920's, which brings an aura that it still carries today on their VSOP box.
Monnet owns 25 hectares of vineyard in the Fins Bois region. A team of dedicated and passionate people is involved in the daily work of their Domaine and ensures the transmission of. traditions, the will to innovate, to push boundaries and to go always further in the quality in a shifted, uninhibited, non-conformist spirit. Monnet owes its quality to an innovative parcellary approach in which the cellar master seeks the perfect terroir combination to achieve the perfect blend. The glow and richness of a Monnet Cognac lies in the complementarity of the eaux-de-vie used in the blend.
