ORIGINS / HISTORY

Our namesake, Uriel J. Nielson, planted Santa Barbara’s first commercial vineyard in 1964 when his critics thought the region was too cold to deliver world class wines. At Nielson, we pay homage to that pioneering spirit by sourcing fruit for our Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Santa Barbara County, where we first started, and from Monterey County, to craft wines that embody the lifestyle and flavor of California’s Central Coast.
