WINERY OVERVIEW
The estate's history dates back to the 12th century when the Vilarnau family first planted vineyards on their lands. Today, the winery continues the legacy, crafting Cavas that are known for their quality, elegance and expression of terroir. The Penedès region offers an ideal Mediterranean climate with cooling breezes from nearby Montserrat Mountains and a landscape rich in limestone soils, imparting distinct minerality and character to their wines. This unique climate allows Vilarnau to cultivate high-quality grapes with excellent balance, acidity and aromatics.
Eva Plazas, Chief Winemaker has played a key role in modernizing Vilarnau's approach while maintaining profound respect for tradition. Eva and her team embrace a foward-thinking, eco-conscious approach, focusing on organic viticulture and environmentally responsible winemaking.
Vliarnau produces Cavas from both the traditional trio of Macabeo, Xarel-o and Parellada (for structure and freshness) and international varieties, such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, to enhance complexity, elegance and character of their wines.
