WINERY OVERVIEW
Founded in 1731, Maison Bouchard Père & Fils is one of Burgundy’s oldest wine merchant houses; installed since the beginning of the 19th century on the site of the ancient Château de Beaune. Maison Bouchard Père & Fils uses the underground galleries and bastions of this fortress built by Louis XI as a cellar, where a rare collection of pre-phylloxera wines rests today.
Over the centuries, the House has been devoted to acquiring highly renowned parcels, 130 hectares of vines in the heart of the Côte d’Or – 12 classified as Grand Crus and 74 as Premier Crus.
After harvesting by hand, the grapes are quickly transported to the state-of-the-art winery in Savigny-lès-Beaune. Gravity fed tanks and barrels avoid as much handling as possible, striving to keep human and mechanical interventions to a minimum. This ensures a gentle process that allows each terroir to shine through.
