Established in 1920, Casa Ermelinda Frietas is a 5th generation Portugese winery with operations in three major winegrowing regions: Peninsula de Setúbal, Vinhos Verdes and Douro. As one of the biggest producers in Portugal, Casa Ermelinda Freitas produces rich, luscious reds and crisp, refreshing whites.

Founded by Deonilde Freitas, continued by her daughter, Germana and then by her granddaughter Ermelinda, who managed the company alongside her daughter, Leonor and who ultimately took charge and consolidated the female leadership of the company. Today, Leonor and her children continue the family winemaking tradition which has been recognized globally through their accumulation of more than 1,500 different awards including World's Best Red Wine in Vinalies Internationales 2008.
