In the heart of Beaujolais, in the village of Saint-Étienne-la-Varenne, you will find Château des Tours standing proudly surrounded by its vineyard amphitheatre. This property, dating back to the 17th century, has been owned by the Richard family since 1986 and now boasts an impressive 173 acres of vineyards cultivated according to the principles of Terra Vitis and HVE3 environmental certifications.
The vineyard benefits from its own, almost semi-continental micro-climate, with Mediterranean influences. The Gamay grape flourishes here, taking root in ganitic soils and deep compact subsoils with crystalline rocks, promoting finesse, balance and complexity in the wines.
In the winery, every effort is made to enhance the aroma diffusion and the velvety texture of the wines. Inspired by Burgundian techniques, the methods used focus on extracting colour, substance and fruitiness. This preserves the wines' tannic structure, freshness and richness of black fruit aromas. Not to mention that distinctive touch of minerality, characteristic of the estate's terroir, which highlights the aging potential of Château des Tours wines.
