WINERY OVERVIEW

Bodegas Volcanes de Chile is the first and only winery exclusively dedicated to the production of wines with grapes grown on volcanic terriors the length and breadth of Chile, a project led from its beginning in 2010 by hugely talented 2nd generation winmaker, Pilar Diaz, who worked with a geologist at the start to understand the volcanic soils, Bodegas Volcanes is a boutique winery focused on smaller production wines but from a diverse range of valleys in Chile.

Given the great number of volcanoes present in Chile (over 1,900), combined with unique and vastly diverse climate influenced by the different latitudes and proximity to the Andes and Pacific Ocean, Volcanes is able to produce wines with 8 different Denominations of Origin. The selection of the terroirs is made by overlapping the vineyards location and the geological maps used by the mining industry, which gives detailed information of the soil composition; and by taking into consideration the latitude and climate influence, the variety is then chosen. But that's just the beginning, as the work in the Bodega lead by Winemaker Pilar Diaz is as important in order to preserve the volcanic essence until finally served in our consumer's glasses.

Pilar is considered one of the most important female winemakers in the Chilean industry and her wines have achieved numerous accolades and recognitions.  Volcanes is proud to be present in more than 30 countries with growing distribution.  Certified as a Sustainable winery under the Wines of Chile Code, Volcanes continues to take steps to reduce their carbon footprint.
